In comparison to the other Pokemon protagonists' appearances, Lyra's is a bit different. She practically exudes childishness, with her bright, red outfit, overalls, and oversized hat with a large bow on it. Many others dress very utilitarian; then, ones such as Dawn and Lucas wear much more mature clothing.
Growing up in the country side of Johto, Lyra had a fairly slow life as a child. She had little to do other than hang out with her next door neighbor, Ethan, play video games in her room, and wander about her tiny hometown. Due to this, Lyra is a bit impulsive and restless; she's always itching for something fun to happen, and her impatient nature causes her to become very bored and exasperated when forced to wait or sit still for very long. She's always on the move, a 'go getter', one might say, eager to get her next badge, train her next Pokemon, meet another trainer.
Adventurous and always willing to try something new, she's proven she's not afraid to get her feet wet when it comes to new experiences, such as bug contests, the Pokeathlon, dressing her Pokemon up, and various other things. However, her curiosity and need for exciting things can sometimes lead to trouble, such as getting mixed up with an international crime syndicate. Obviously, she wasn't prepared to take on Team Rocket; yet she did it anyway. Whether it was stupidity or bravery is up to interpretation.
While she isn't as blatant about it as others, Lyra has a good heart. She likes to help people, especially when she feels others are being treated unjustly. She gets embarrassed easily, however, so she tends to accept thank yous and compliments in stride or deny that she actually did it for them. "It was just for fun!" She'll say. Coupled with this is a hot temper, one with a short fuse; people like Silver can easily light that fuse. Normally harmless, if you give her a bad first impression or rub her the wrong way, expect a cold shoulder or an earful of insults.
Despite everything, Lyra is a good trainer. She connects to her Pokemon well and has great synergy with all of them. Her positivity and impulsiveness sometimes ends in her favor, when she tackles her enemies in a complete bum rush. There's a reason she's managed to get all 16 badges across Kanto and Johto; she's a talented young trainer.
Of course, she's only 13. She'll have mood swings, brag about her accomplishments, and be a bit cocky. She can be overbearing at times, and it'd be easy for her peppiness to annoy a person. When she gets bored, she can get whiny and snappy, and when she gets angry, she shuts down completely. She's impressionable, and latches onto people easily, swaying from interest to interest. Her mind never stays in one place for too long, due to her zest for trying new things. She'll get distracted. Still, it's clear to see that she'll soon develop into a well-rounded individual; one with a lot of heart and soul, not afraid to speak her mind, and an excellent trainer.
